Stepping Stones is a private, for profit child care center open to all families regardless of race, cultural heritage, national origin, religion, political beliefs, sexual orientation, disability, or marital status. The Center's purpose is to support and strengthen families by providing full day, quality care for their young children.
The Center's early childhood program provides for the cognitive, social, physical, emotional and creative development of each child. Teachers create an environment for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers which is safe, nurturing, relaxed and non-sexist where the child is our most important task. The staff also encourages and supports creativity and independence.
A child's day at the Center includes opportunities for art work, block building, dramatic play, sand and water play, group meetings, outdoor time, quiet/nap time and much more. We believe that children learn by doing: as they are ready they will discover colors, shapes, numbers and letteres through a wide variety of experiences.
All activities take place under the supervision of a professional staff who have strong backgrounds in Early Childhood Education. Along with their expertise they bring a real concern for, and understanding of, children. Teachers are always close by to give attention, reassurance, or maybe just a hug.
Parents are encouraged to participate as their schedules allow. Communication between staff and families about what a child does here, and at home, is essential. We try to form a partnership with families so we can understand and meet the needs of each individual child.
