The first Stepping Stones Childcare Center was opened in February 1992 under the ownership of Adelaide Queeney. This was one of the first privately owned childcare centers in our area serving toddlers through preschoolers in a full day setting. The first year Adelaide enrolled thirty-six children with two toddler groups and preschool group. As enrollment grew quickly she added a five year old group the following year building to a capacity of sixty children.
Stepping Stones was built on the strong belief that working parents wanted a full-day program which would help support and strengthen families by providing full-day quality care for their young children.
After six years, Adelaide saw a growing need for infant and toddler childcare in the fast growing Mashpee area. Stepping Stones Too was built in 1998 to meet this demand. By the following summer, the infant, toddler and preschool programs had almost reached their capacity of seventy-two children.
Our emphasis is on the "whole" child.
